FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Stay out of the swamp.”

Hollywood, CA – July 12, 2004 – ArieScope Pictures and High Seas Entertainment announce the feature film HATCHET. Described as a modern horror film laced with clever humor and outrageously terrifying scares, HATCHET is a modern take on the 70’s and 80’s slasher genre.

The film is written and directed by Adam Green, who was recently signed by Lions Gate to write a script for the sequel to 2003’s box office hit CABIN FEVER. Green’s previous work includes an array of short films and the independent feature comedy COFFEE & DONUTS. COFFEE & DONUTS was bought by Disney/Touchstone last year to be made into a sit-com pilot for UPN. Green wrote the pilot script.

Recently enlisted for the project is actor/stunt coordinator KANE HODDER, also known as JASON to fans of the FRIDAY THE 13th series. Kane will play the role of VICTOR CROWLEY, the monster/villain in HATCHET.

The film’s spectacular gore and make-up effects will be done by JOHN CARL BUECHLER’S Magical Media Industries (MMI). Buechler has done the special effects for some of the genres top grossing franchises of all time, including A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET IV: THE DREAM MASTER, HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, and FRIDAY THE 13TH VII: THE NEW BLOOD (which he also directed).

WILL BARRATT will be the director of photography. Barratt has worked with Green on all of the ArieScope movies to date and most recently won an EMMY award for his work on a commercial for WBZ Boston/The Museum of Fine Arts and was nominated for another Emmy for a commercial he shot for FOX SPORTS.

SCOTT ALTOMARE, SARAH ELBERT, and CORY NEAL are producers on the film.

The film is expected to begin production this fall in the back woods and swamps of Louisiana. The first teaser trailer will be released on www.hatchetmovie.com at midnight on Friday, August 13th 2004.
